About us:
We are not a corporate clinic. We are not a dental mill. We don't care what the insurance companies think our treatment for patients should be. (But you can be sure their opinions will mostly be based on what cost them least. The proof will be in your plans and your EOBs.) Dr. Farley and the patient will decide that. And you can be sure Dr. Farley's opinion will be based on what is best for you.
The patient is, of course, free to choose what treatment is best for them based on circumstances that Dr. Farley may not be aware of, and the insurance company will definitely not be aware of. This is why you will be given all practical options for your situation.
We do not do amalgam fillings; they're ugly. No matter what material we use, many, if not most, of the insurance companies will still only pay for amalgam. They apparently think you look great in silver; we don't.
This dental clinic is owned and operated by Sheila L. Farley, DMD. It was designed by her down to the very last detail. She is proud of her clinic. And she loves her patients. Even the grumpy ones.
She has learned invaluable lessons during her time in the Marine Corps, the Navy Dental Corps and as a private dental clinic owner operator spanning over 34 years. The changes that are now in progress are the culmination of those lessons.
We are a fee for service dental clinic. With one exception.
Congratulations if you are fortunate enough to have dental coverage through Selected Administrative Services (SAS) located in Gulfport, MS. SAS is a comprehensive managed care organization that provides third party administrative (TPA) services to employers who self-fund any or all of their employer benefits.
We are contracted with Selected Administrative Services to provide dental care to patients who have dental benefits administered through them. We will continue to contract with them for as long as they continue their honest and fair treatment of dental providers and their patients.
*They are the best insurance company we have ever encountered. Bar none. And by a very large margin.
Here's why:
1. They do not employ ANY of the underhanded business practices of any of the insurance companies we're familiar with.
2. They treat their patient base with the respect due them. Rarely do they deny treatment. Or try to downgrade treatment for any reason in our experience. That is almost unheard of in the dental field.
3. They treat the providers with the same respect. Their fee schedule is more than fair in our estimation. We routinely find that our fees are lower than theirs. And THAT IS ABSOLUTELY unheard of in this business. And not just the obscure, never used fees.
4. We have had NO complaints about SAS for all the years we've been associated. Again, that is abnormal on the level of incomprehensible.
5. SAS fee schedules are the standard by which we set our own fee schedule.
*We understand that the employer component of an insurance plan is an overriding determinant of the ultimate benefits provided to their employees. We also understand that insurance company tactics transcend employer participation in providing those plans.
